Itinerary 1: Everything you want to know about Chablis wines

Nicknamed the “Golden Door of Burgundy, ” the town of Chablis which is known all over the world, is halfway (180km) between Paris and Beaune. Although Chablis is a charming village of 2,500 occupants, what most visitors truly seek in Chablis is the wine. The flowery, crisp white nectar is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes.

  • 7:30 am pick up at your Paris hotel
  • 10 am arrival in Chablis
  • Visit  Domaine Laroche (or William Fèvre).  Laroche is one of the most interesting wineries to visit. Right in the heart of the village, their cellar is located in the Caves de l’Obédiencerie, an old monastery which date back to the 9th century. Visit the cellars and the old press. Laroche owns about 200 acres in various parts of Chablis. A comparative tasting of their wines will help you understand the concept of “terroir,” (how the wine is defined by the soil, grape and weather) and that there isn’t just one Chablis but many.
  • Walk and discover Chablis. Although people mostly come to sample the wines, the town itself also deserves exploration – it is a pretty place with some attractive medieval houses, some with ornate door and window openings, and a few other buildings of interest to discover.
  • Lunch at the Hostellerie des Clos, an authentic and warm restaurant that serves gourmet French food.
  • Enjoy the scenic drive through the vineyards to see the panorama of the Chablis vineyards. Geraldine will explain how growers work on the vines all year long.
  • Only a few kilometers away from Chablis is the beautiful village of Saint-Bris which serves as our last stop at Domaine Goisot (or equivalent), a family winery-run winery.  Goisot is the passionate leader of “Biodynamic” wines in the area and his wines are truly authentic.
  • Return to Paris around 7 pm (depending on traffic)

Itinerary 2: Chablis, Wine & Culture
  • 7:30 am pick up at your Paris hotel
  • 10:15 am arrive at Pontigny
  • Visit the Abbaye de Pontigny.  Pontigny is the biggest Cistercian Abbaye in the world founded by the monks in the 12th century. The monks were also the first ones to plant vineyards in Chablis.
  • Scenic drive through the vineyards to reach the charming village of Chablis.
  • Lunch at the Hostellerie des Clos, a warm and friendly restaurant that serves Gourmet French food
  • Walk and discover Chablis. Although people mostly come to sample the wines, the town itself also deserves an exploration – it is a pretty place with some attractive medieval houses, some with ornate door and window openings, and a few other buildings of interest to discover.
  • Visit and wine tasting at the world famous producer William Fèvre (or equivalent). The prestigious domaine is a reference for the wines of Chablis and you will taste, side by side, various Chablis from different plots to understand the concept of terroir and the differences between Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru and Chablis Grand Cru
  • Return to Paris around 7 pm (depending on traffic)

“Great trip to Chablis”

Unforgettable experience to go to Chablis! I wanted to go to Chablis from Paris, and it was really difficult finding a tour. Having found Geraldine, the tour was customized well to our needs. As my husband hardly drank, she proposed the tour that mixes both culture and wine tasting. Took us to fantastic restaurant, which all the food there were fabulous. She also showed us around the vineyard.

Yu-Ji – California

My mother and I were in Paris on vacation and wanted a chance to see some of Burgundy and to experience the French countryside. Geraldine took us on an amazing tour of Chablis and surrounding towns. She is a master history, local culture, and has immense knowledge of wine in France and beyond. Geraldine gave us door to door service from our hotel in Paris and was a gracious host throughout the day. What a delight to have discovered Geraldine and Wine Domini! Our trip to Chablis became the highlight of our entire trip to France and will be a memory we look back on fondly for years to come! Looking forward to returning to France and taking another tour!

A wonderful trip to Chablis with an experimented guide

It was definitely a spectacular experience for us to visit Chablis and learn so much about Chablis wine! The itinerary was well planned – we began by visiting a smaller grower including its vineyards, cellars, machinery and production line! The wine tasting parts were delightful and we are thankful to have a tour lady like Géraldine who is very friendly, professional and passionate about wine!! We then enjoyed a relaxing lunch under the sun in a nice restaurant and then a sightseeing of Chablis downtown. After that, we visited another grower’s cellar and learned more about wine and the history of Chablis! A truly wonderful experience and we will strongly recommend to our friends and relatives.
